2009 Quebec Open - If you haven't been, then you don't know what I'm talking about....

QuebecI know many of you guys are sick and tired of hearing me go and on about how much I love the Quebec Open, but everybody is allowed to have their favorites. Besides, since this is MY website, I get the freedom to say what I want. LOL!

So I'm just gonna lay it out for you as I see. Nobody paid me to write this article... I'm just telling it like it is...

The Quebec Open is the epitome of a COOL tournament. I love coming to Quebec and experiencing the unique French culture and the strong passion Canadians have for martial arts. It's not just the karate -- it's wonderful food, elegant hotel, fabulous after-party, and the friendly people. I've always wondered why Canadians are so talented at martial arts. My theory is that, because it is so cold up here most of the year, martial arts is one of the few sports that can be practiced indoors (aside from hockey). Or maybe that since Canadians are such nice people, they need a combat sport to express their not-so-nice side in a positive manner. Either way, Canadians are darn good martial arts and I'm impressed with the level and depth of their skill.

Perhaps you've heard through word of mouth that the Quebec Open has the best night time finals show ever. I agree!

What separates it from the rest is the ambiance and intensity. There's nothing like have a gigantic college sports center with stadium seating filled with thousands of spectators cheering on their competitors. The lighting, media, and production are first rate. It was beautiful. Though I am proud of my video footage, it does not do the event justice. You have to come see for yourself.

Thanks to the following videographers for a job well done.  I couldn't have judged, competed, and filmed all in one weekend without your help.  You guys rock!
